April 17, 2007 – Grace Construction Products, a world leader in the construction and building materials industry, announced today the launch of the Grace Scholarship Program at an award ceremony held at Tong Ji University. This is a nation-wide program administered in partnership with eleven leading Chinese universities, including Tong Ji University, Tsinghua University, and Wuhan University of Technology. Under this scholarship program, Grace Construction Products is expected to provide USD120,000 over five years, for 22 awards each year.
“Through this program, we hope to contribute towards the enhancing of technology and standards within the construction industry,” said Jeremy P. M. Gray, Vice President and General Manager, Grace Construction Products, Asia Pacific. “At the same time, we look forward to collaborative opportunities with university faculties and students to develop research programs in environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient construction technologies and methods, areas strategic to the achievement of China’s goals for sustainable development.”
Adding to this, Dr. Zhong Hua, Asia Pacific Director of Technology, Grace Construction Products, said, “We have increased resources at our Beijing Research & Development Laboratory to accelerate product and technology innovation programs, and to deliver enhanced technical services to customers in China. We believe this scholarship initiative will help the nurturing of talent and facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge. Through this program, we hope to increase interaction with the universities and research institutes and work together on joint research projects for the benefit of the industry.”
